This steel tower was once part of a Michigan DOT Welcome Center on I-75 near Monroe Michigan. A rebuilding of the center in 2005 included demolition of the tower, but it was saved and moved to St. Ignace. The tower was re-assembled on the dock formerly used by the railroad ferries Chief Wawatam and Sainte Marie.
The Star Line Ferry is a hydro-jet ferry that shoots a roastertail 35' in the air. The ferry travels back and forth to historic Mackinac Island.
